There was a lovely ceremony at one of the sculptures in the park today. An ice sculpture has been carved here to celebrate the friendship between two cities, Harbin in China and Fairbanks. Harbin is a famous tourist city in China known as “The Ice City”. It hosts the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, the world’s largest ice and snow festival. Harbin and Fairbanks are sister cities because they both host international Ice Carving Championships. Today marked the 40th year these two cities have been “united” in ice.
The weather and ice are perfect for you to come and see how these incredible artists will spend their last two days of carving. To watch how nine gigantic blocks of ice have been transformed into a breathtaking completed masterpiece is truly magic.
And the slides in the park are nice and slippery!!
