Winners of Multi Block

Written by Lee Ellen King

The winners of the 2025 Multiblock were honored at the Awards Ceremony tonight at the Ice Alaska Ice Park. There were 12 teams of multiblock carvers. Each team had 4 sculptors and 9 blocks of ice. They had 6 days in which to carve. Every sculpture is created from blocks of crystal clear water harvested locally and so clear it is called the “Arctic Diamond”.

First place was awarded to an incredibly delicate and exquisite, yet fierce, sculpture named “Summon to the Queen”. Its talented artists from the Philippines were Angelito Baben, Ross Baisas, Antonio Baisas and Victor Datagan.
In Second Place was a whimsical rocket ship adventure. The pilot even had his dog along-a very happy pooch! The trip into outer space is called “Rocket Ride” and the talented team who created this wonderful journey are Dean DeMaris, Kevin Roscoe, Lenny Calvin and Daniel Helmstader.
The third-place winner will want to make you “boogie”. You can almost hear the music as these folks take to the dance floor. This fun treasure is called “Welcome to the Jungle” and the talented force who brought it to life are Steve Brice, David Smith, Burr Rasmussen and Chris Foltz.
24 hours after judging, the teams may adorn their sites with colored lights. This brings out the pure enchantment of these magnificent works of art. Come by the park during the day and see the winners in natural light. Then visit at night for a truly magical experience.
