Multi Block Mid Point

Written by Lee Ellen King

According to history, the very first ice sculptures were used for shelter against the cold. They can also be traced back to China when lanterns were carved to keep out the long dark of night. Today we think of them as culinary art forms. The first version of Peach Melba was created by Chef Auguste Escoffier in 1893 when he served his dessert in a silver bowl that he placed in an ice sculpture in the shape of a swan. Ranging from tiny to massive, ice sculptures are spectacularly beautiful. “Hard edges become smooth, lines begin to blur and surfaces transform from hazy to clear.”

We are halfway through the multi block competition. The artists are still constructing; the delicate work is still to come. Two teams are highlighted in this post.  More posts and more teams to follow. The team above is Team 3: Tator Edwards, Lenny Calvin, Dan Miller and Josh Givens. Their Title is Mind Blowing Ideas

Below is Team 2: Steve Brice, Heather Brice, Chris Foltz and David Smith. Their Title is Eyes of Demise
