On Saturday, February 17, Ice Alaska will open its gates at noon for the 2024 season. Located at the Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds, 1800 College Road, in Fairbanks, Ice Alaska is home of the World Ice Art Championships. The finest ice sculptors from around the world compete in this most prestigious of all ice carving competitions. This year’s competition dates are as follows:

Multi Block Competition February 17^th-February 22^nd: Awards night February 23^rd 8pm

Double Block Competition February 25^th-27^th; Awards night February 28^th 8pm

Collegiate Competition February 25^th-27^th Awards night February 28^th 7:30pm

Single Block Competition March 1^st-3^{rd Awards} night March 4^th 8pm

Snow (Family) Competition March 9^th- 10^th   Awards night March 10 7:30pm

Youth Classic March 11^th-14^th Awards night March 15^th 7:30pm

Adult-ages 18 and up $17.00

Senior-ages 65+ $12.00

Military $12.00

Child-ages 6+ $8.00

Age 5 and under $0.00

Punch Card (10)-1 punch per person $125.00

When you purchase a one-day ticket you can come and go as many times as you like on that day. During the competitions, it is fun to watch the artists at work, especially on the last day of their event. Once the sculptures have been judged, the teams add colored lights to their site. That is when their sculptures become crown jewels. Seeing the ice during the day is spectacular and seeing it again under the colored lights is magic.

The kids’ park is SO MUCH FUN! Slides, games and ice to climb on all make for a day of fun and pictures you’ll remember forever.
