Day Two of Carving

Written by leeellenking

It’s day two of carving for our youthful sculptors. The atmosphere at the competition site is much less chaotic today as work on carving progresses. Teammates are conferring with one another, taking turns carving, checking sketches and asking  mentors for help or advice. Everyone is busy. Each piece has a title now, although at this stage of development, it’s hard to connect a finished masterpiece with its title.
Everyone stopped for a break about 1:00pm, came into the Badger Building and treated themselves to homemade lasagna, compliments of Wendy Croskey, one of the mentors.  At the end of lunch, Jim Warner told everyone that day two was the day for gluing pieces onto the sculptures. He also stressed how important it is to pay attention to the midline of the future art piece.
Work will now continue until about 5:00pm when clean-up for the day will commence.
