Photographing ice sculptures has it's own challenges. There are so many things to consider. How do you keep your equipment and yourself warm? How do you compose the shot? How does lighting affect the shot? Let's consider the challenges of lighting.

Your first step, and this is the most important step, is to get a season pass. Unless you plan to spend an entire day and evening in the ice park, you will have more enjoyment visiting the park, in one to three hour segments, spread out over the duration of the event. Mix it up, take a walk during daylight and another during the night, with the colored lights.
