Welcome graphic

To the New George Horner Ice Park. The new park is one mile away from the former Ice Park – farther down Phillips Field Road, across Peger Road toward University Avenue. We love the location!

As you can see from the photo below, the new park has a beautiful large pond - O'Grady Pond Too - that will again produce world class ice. The trees in the background will be the perfect location for the competitions' ice sculptures, and there is plenty of room between the trees and the pond to accommodate a very large Kids Park, mazes, ice rink and concession area. The little Ice Park train can't wait to give you a tour!

The best part of the new park is it is owned by Ice Alaska and the community. We are grateful to the folks at the Alaska Railroad for all the invaluable help moving the Park infrastructure. We also appreciate the 16 wonderful years of experience gained at the Ice Park on their Phillips Field Road property.

There is lots to do to prepare for the 2012 World Ice Art Championships, but we promise to inaugurate the new George Horner Ice Park right on schedule on February 28 with the 2012 Single Block Classic, followed by the Multi-Block, Amature and Youth events. Another promise is the kids will be wowed with their new slides, mazes and skating rink! We are very excited with all the possibilities!

So plan to join us at the New George Horner Ice Park for our traditional Alaska celebration of spring at Ice Park from February 28 through March 25, 2012  In the meantime, we at Ice Alaska hope you have an 'ice day!
